By default, no. Workers control their own visibility — most start in 'private' mode where they're only visible to you. A worker only becomes discoverable to other contractors if they explicitly opt in to that. Even then, their work history shows attribution: 'brought on by [you]' stays on their profile permanently, so other contractors see who built the relationship. We designed this on purpose — vouching attribution is meant to make poaching less attractive, not more.

When you bring a worker, contractor, or client onto DirectCrew, that connection becomes part of their permanent record. Marco's profile doesn't just say 'verified finish carpenter' — it says 'brought on by Jake, 28 completed projects together, 100% client signoff.' That specific human attestation is a stronger trust signal than a generic verification badge. It also means good referrers build a track record other contractors can see — quality referrers become known quantities on the platform.

Can I see how my crew compares to other crews in my area?

Yes — but only if you opt in. Every contractor's crew stats are private by default. When you're ready, you can opt your crew into the regional benchmark and see your percentile by completion rate, rehire rate, client signoff turnaround, and other metrics — within your trade and region. Other contractors can see your aggregate crew stats (not individual workers) if you opt in. Benchmarks unlock per trade and region once enough crews have opted in to make the comparison meaningful. We're upfront about small samples.

Who can see a worker's stats?

It depends on what the worker chose. Private workers: only themselves and contractors they've worked with. Compare-only workers: themselves with personal percentile rankings, plus their data contributes anonymously to the regional benchmark. Discoverable workers: visible to other contractors looking for crew. The default is private. The worker chooses — not the contractor, not the platform.

What happens to my data if I leave the platform?

Your personal profile is removed. Project records attached to your profile stay attributed to the contractor who ran the project (because those are their records of work delivered to their clients), but your name comes off them. You can export your full project history as a PDF portfolio anytime, including before you leave. We don't lock reputation to the platform — if you build it here, it's yours to take elsewhere.

DirectCrew creates value through project records, scope history, photos, change orders, payment records, completion signoff, reviews, and reputation credit. Those benefits are lost or weakened when the job moves completely off-platform.

DirectCrew does not guarantee outcomes. What we do is help reduce uncertainty: verified worker identities, project records that document scope and changes, photos and milestones tied to the job, and worker-level reputation built from completed work. You still hire, contract, and inspect — DirectCrew gives you better information to do it with.

It is not a ranking and not a guarantee. Advanced insights require enough verified records — early scores may be unavailable, limited, or marked as building. DirectCrew will not present small samples as definitive rankings.
